What does everyone think about post-grading stickers? Let me preface, I'm not here to disparage anyone, and my post is NOT in response to the CNAS introductory post that was pulled earlier this week, as I've been pondering this phenomenon for awhile now. And I know MAC is an invention of Alan Hager, who has his own colourful history. I know nothing about the CAC folks.

An old adage is "buy the coin, not the holder" so why would one pay another $20 or so, to denote what might be obvious, if one has the coin in hand?

Does anyone have any experience with selling CAC, MAC and or CNAS coins and do they in fact garner a premium when sold again?

PCGS grading is getting expensive enuf with their recent brokerage fees courtesy of Fedex, so I'm reluctant to pay anything more unless there is s some benefit to be recognized.

I can understand that these stickers are probably a response to the grading companies lack of providing a description or rationale for their grades, but it's my understanding, the sticker companies don't provide any additional commentary either.

Thoughts? I would be interested in hearing from dealers and if in fact they do pay a premium for a CAC, MAC or CNAS 'enhanced' coin.

I think CAC stickers are a good bet for most eye-appealing coins that have justified their original grading fee (i.e., worth $200 or more).

Another thought I had, I could see an opportunity with older PCGS and NGC coins before they started using the "+" and "*" designations and noting cameos.

It's a business....that should explain a lot.

Where there's potential to make a profit, more grading companies will pop up.

Its interesting, I think of these questions.

1. Is an ICCS ms 62 with nice photos a ms 64 or a net grade ms cleaned.

2. Is the PCGS au 50 really a 50 or a vf 35 that was overgraded (saw one in HA auction recentley)

I could see some value for online purchases if they address the TPG's grading issues, otherwise would probably not see much value.
