I get there are two different variations of the 1879 S Morgan: the reverse of 78 and reverse of 79.

This coin I have is reverse of 79 and on the obverse side the hair extends to the eye.

It looks like it could have been from a die break?

I think this is pretty unique piece...any insight?

Thank you for looking and your help!

Dave

Whoa thank you so much John1. I will be doing some hard core research to see if it would be worth sending in to be graded.

Any thoughts?

A coin needs a retail value after slabbing of at least $120-$150 to justify all costs involved in sending it in. If you find that your coin is worth that much, using ebay sold values then you could send it in if you feel the need to.
