here is my first ever double die, found from a roll of nickels, purchased from the bank. one question - is a double die, a mint error, or a mint variety. this coin has a clear doubling on the left side of the dome, and appears to continue all the wall to the left side of the building.

can anyone help me with grade and/or value. is there anywhere I can see if this is an already documented DD. thanks.

I am additing a different image of the reverse of this coin. hopefully it will be clearer to view.

I'm no pro but it looks like a Machine Doubling to me and they have no value. A true doubled die is considered a mint error. Let's wait for the pros to comment.

well I was told just a couple of days ago the diffrence is one is the machine stricking the coin twice " Machine Doubling" and the other is an error on the die itself thats why only a part of the coin will show a doubling effect.

i am no expert and if I am wrong the experts will tell us

let me find the link to a thread w/ some good pics

Here's a couple of pictures of what a doubled die should look like. These pics. are of the reverse 1962. Your pics are a bit blurry to tell what you have. Sorry.
