I'm wondering how much a Phoenician 1 Shekel from Tyre usually goes for at a grade of 5/5 strike and 4/5 surface by NGC. Coin in question is right here. Sap Moderator Australia 16808 Posts	Posted 12/02/2021 03:42 am They're both "Biblical coins", but on the fringe of that category; price can fluctuate, depending on whether or not the biblical collectors find it, and want it. Right now, prices for ancients generally are going crazy. "Book values" have gone out the window, and sales stats older than a couple of months are largely irrelevant. The price of shekels varies considerably, depending on the date; this one is Year 70 (57-56 BC), which I would class as "not sought after" from a Biblical Coins perspective. Yet I'm seeing similar coins sold in CoinArchives for US$1000 or so. Gold darics are the first coins explicitly mentioned by name in the Bible, but few people realise this otherwise their prices would be much higher. Nevertheless, due to their scarcity they always command prices far in excess of bullion value. I can see a few in similar condition on CoinArchives selling for around US$3000. I frankly wouldn't be surprised if these coins wind up selling for double those figures. livingwater Pillar of the Community United States 2214 Posts	Posted 12/02/2021 08:23 am It takes some time but for recent prices paid you can search completed auctions on places like CNGCOINS.COM, SIXBID.COM, BIDDR.COM, HA.COM and others.
