I had to be in at 9am. I planned on going to the bank at lunch and putting them in the safe deposit box. Well they had "employee appreciation day" today and had a large cookout on the outside break area. While I was eating I was telling a co worker how much I enjoyed the Palm Beach show. They started to ask me what I picked up. (most folks there know I collect) so I went in and got the box of coins my manager locked away (so they didn't vanish) and brought them outside.

They oohhed and ahhed at the 61 fbl Franklin, I passed it aroung with my loupe and explained fbl. They lreally liked the Walker and then asked me what a proof was. I had a 62 proof set with me and explained that too. 2 of them really thought the Oregon Trail was very sharp
I enjoyed show and tell and made it to the bank to tuck them safely away.

I tak almost every or everyother purchuse I make to work to show it off, but the thing is can keep my stuff close by and only work with a few guys and I can trust them. But yes it is alway fun to show your coins off. thank for the story.

While many of you know I just started a new job, and everyone knows what that is like! I have managed to introduce two new co-workers to coin collecting over the past couple of weeks and they are making their first ever journey to a coin shop today. One of the fellas has a wife who doesn't see the value of spending money on money or the value of precious metal so he is taking her along in hopes she will grasp what coin collecting is all about. This adult co-worker had NEVER seen a silver eagle so I made it a very interesting week when I delivered silver ealges with his childrens birth dates and, of course, presented him with his FIRST commemorative $2 euro from Finland! Yep, I think I just added another collector or two to our ranks and one of them is really "fired" up and it only took a few days to get him there! When you get the chance----PASS IT ON!

That's great, Gil! It sounds like you had a lot of fun sharing your coins and, who knows, you may have started someone else collecting!

It is olways nice to show off, but you need the right person to appreciate coins.
Last night I had these two silver coins with me 'cause I bought them that day. we went to a cafe with friends and one asked to see them. the others liked the coins too but they couldn't get why I spent that money on them. I tried to explain, however to them they'are just nice looking pieces of silver that -maybe- can decorate some shelf.

Yet, I don't give up and try to add some other people to the hobby. My last victory was one of my friends that I asked if she could bring me some Statehood Quarters on her way back from the US. She was surprised with the beauty and collected a set for herself too.
