I have a 1922 Peace that has a black dot on it, I didn't really think anything of it untill I noticed a black dot on my 1972 Eisenhower also. Does this mean anything other than someone was playing with a marker?

Well, if it's a marker mark, soak it in alcohol or acetone, give it a few minutes, and you'll be able to wipe it off.
