Quote: Where does one get such a binder? any pics/links so I could check one out? Its just a simple 3 ring binder you can pickup anywhere. Then look for something similar to these. http://www.wizardcoinsupply.com/lig...et-of-2.htmlAt least thats a route I'm thinking about going. Havent decided just yet and it really bugs me.

I've wanted to do a 7070 set, but the cost has been prohibitive, someone above mentioned there are other (other than Dansco) sets out there, can anybody list some and give advantages (if any) over Dansco.

I am working on one. It is the first album I decided to build. Which then it led me to start a woodgrain Lincoln set, and probably a raw Jefferson set.

I have 4 holes remaining- Draped Bust Half Cent, reeded Bust half, and the two Seated dollars. However, only about 1/3 of the current coins will be permanent residents with the rest needing various levels of upgrading. I was able to acquire a number of lower grade type coins inexpensively from my local shops bid board. A few of the coins have various minor problems and some of them are in a grade that is lower than I want. It is kind of funny that I have gotten pickier about the coins the closer I get to finishing it which inevitably slows my progress down I am trying to grade match by era so the early stuff will all be F-VF and the grades progressing to Proof moderns.

I know this is off-topic, but is replying to a post on this thread. Was this a good deal?

I'm working on a 7070 Type Set including gold, plus adding the earlier type coins - pre-1800. It's slow going, but fun. This is my third 7070 set. The first one bored me silly, but I finished it and sold it to a dealer. The second one was a blast - I loved every minute I spent on it. In the end, I also sold it to a dealer. This one I'm going to keep. I'm also s-l-o-w-l-y putting together the Dansco albums for Half Cents and large cents.

Why was the first one so boring? I would think they would all be equal but I guess its all how you go about putting it together. I'm going to buy my first really nice coin for my type set this weekend at the local show. Let the fun begin! :)

I am working on a Dansco 7070 in VF or better grade. I have 7 slots left to fill - Draped Bust Half Cent, Draped Bust Cent, Classic Head Cent, Twenty Cent Piece, Seated dollar with Motto and two commemorative slots (to be filled with a 1925 Lexington half and an Oregon Trail half). I also have a few coins I would like to upgrade but am trying to hold off on that until I've gotten the other coins. Best regards, Ken

I've never really been into the older, 19th century pieces. mainly because those aren't going to come out of circulation. but now that I've seen this set, I'm very tempted.

New to the group, but this thread is relative o my most current focus. After having been out of coin collecting for 30 years I got back into it when I inherited my Dad's collection about 3 years ago. He stopped adding new coins about 1982, so most of the last three years has been filling in all the post 82 coins. Have a Dansco 7070 now missing 17 coins, but as I am also a high end woodworker / furniture maker as another hobby, I enjoy showing off my coins on the wall. I am now trying to fill a Capital Plastics 20th century type holder, 12" x 12", 41 coins that will go into a 15 x 15 bubinga frame hinged inside a 24 x 24 african satinwood frame (so you can pull the inner frame open like a door and view the backs of the coins). My 7070 is filled with MS coins for the moderns and whatever I can afford as one goes further back, but I am trying with the wall mount 20th century set to do proofs for all the post 1950 coins and MS for the earlier ones (the Barber coins are going to have to be VG to VF, as I can't afford better than that now on those.) Anyone have comments on mixing proofs with circulation strikes in a type set like this?

My set has a mix of older toned coins in the VF/XF range and some Proof and uncirculated coins for the moderns and I think it presents well. I think it just serves to further emphasize the progression from the older coins to the newer coins.
My primary goal in my 7070 is to obtain coins where all the major features of each coin can be see - thus I try to stick to a minimum grade of VF.

I have completed my 7070 a couple of years ago and have been upgrading from my minimum grade of VF-20 ever since. I added the gold page recently and I have only four coins to go in that with a minimum grade of AU. Of all the albums I have completed, I enjoy looking at and working on the 7070 the most. I don't think I would ever want to sell it. I wish all you folks who posted here that have completed a type set would post pictures. I would love to see them.
