I have a 1969 s Kennedy that has a green spot on both sides. Does anyone know what it is and how to get it off or stop it from growing? Thank you for your help.

What kind of holder is the coin in? The green spot could be PVC residue or it could be corrosion. A dunk in acetone will remove PVC residue but will not touch corrosion. Even if it is PVC, the damage may already be done in the form of pitting on the mirrored surface.

Its in a store bought slab. I would think it would be PVC free. Can't be 100% sure as I am not the one who put the coin in the holder. Under loop looked like crystals forming. Should I take it out of the holder and put it in the acetone and place it in another holder? I only have $4.00 invested in this coin so I would up to any suggestion.

Not sure what you mean by store bought slab. Is there a name brand on that slab such as PCGS, NGC, etc.? If so, that coin could or should have a grading for that coin. If so, and not noted as a toned coin, you could possibly send it to them and they would fix that mess and reslabt the coin. Of course it would cost about 5 times what you already paid to have that done.
I too doubt it is PVC. I get a little tired of everything on Earth being PVC.
If you want to spend a few dollars go to any store and purchase some Acetone and dip that coin in it. For excessive details on the usage of Acetone, try a search on this forum for that stuff.
If Actone does nothing, additional solutions purchased to clean it off would also be the start of a lot of money over your original cost.

The slab is like the one seen here http://www.air-tites.com/Coin_World_Coin_Slabs.htm. The coin is a proof will the acetone hurt the finish?

Get it into acetone. That's PVC damage. Acetone will not affect the coin beyond removing the PVC, although it's possible that the PVC has already eaten into the surface.

So a Search on this forum for the proper usage of acetone. It's a very dangerous chemical, and must be treated with respect.

If you have no addtional usage for solutions like Acetone, don't bother with that stuff. Note your coin was only $4. The average can of Acetone is about $3 to $5. To use a few ounces and then have it sit around for years, makes little CENTS you know. And too since you REALLY don't know what that discoloration is, Acetone may have no effect so more money wasted. If you haven't taken the coin out of the slab by now, you may want to take it out and put into another similar one or just a plastic flip. I'd leave it alone though. Again, a $4 purchase is just not worth a lot of trouble, cost, time and/or the cost of even a new plastic holder. Put it in a zip lock bag and forget it. Or run some cheap plastic glue along the edges to seal it more. However, even plstic glue would cost a few dollars and again, not worth a $4 coins problems.

Well I went with the Acetone and it got both the green spots off. Also had some other soiled coins to clean with the Acetone. Thanks for all the help.
