PR64 assuming most, if not all , the scratches are on the holder, primarily reverse.

Are the chin scratches on the coin or the holder?

Quote: Are the chin scratches on the coin or the holder? Both. The longer scratch moving east-south-east is on the holder. The more horizontal surface "bead" right above it is on the coin. I'm not entirely sure it's a scratch.

Beautiful coin, looks like a Proof strike to me so I'm at PR64.
In general I'm not a big fan of the Barber series coins, but proof strikes with some cameo such as your coin are gorgeous.

Without confirming or denying that the coin is indeed a proof, these are my thoughts exactly. Barber was clearly a second-tier engraver and the design choice was more about politics than merit. But every once and awhile a specimen comes along to remind us that even the Barber series are superior to the parade of dead presidents that followed.

When I was a kid, I really thought that the self-evidently (to me, anyway) male Liberty on Barber coins was some guy who worked as a Barber.
