WOW! I'll have to get my coins together and just send them on in....NOT! I really think that Numismatic News should take a closer look at the ads they run, don't you?

http://www.crs-stockton.com/index.htmlI went and viewed this site. Reviews: shows a hole patched and cleaned. Products: He shows a picture of a painting color chart and is advertising toning your coin to the color of your choice $25. FAQ: Shows his handy work with a Before and After photo's. Have a guess which coin picture is the after? LOL There appears to be a round blob on the hair that is not on the battered coin. Strange improvement or just simply a different coin.

Some more food for thought from the CRS site:
HAVE YOUR HOLED OR DAMAGED COINS RESTORED NOW INCREASE THE VALUE OF YOUR COLLECTION
DEALERS GET THAT JUNK BOX OUT AND TURN IT INTO PROFITS
Providing a service, or aiding and abetting fraud? You be the judge.

I'd be surprised if the before and after pics were the same coin. I don't see how he's able to restore stars and devices and all the denticulation on the rim. His before and after pics are better than NCS's. I doubt very much they have more skilled people than NCS does. Also, I have a problem with picking out a toning color from a paint chart. Maybe it's just me. I would run from this company like the wind. [:0]

Wow, that's bad in so many different ways, where do we start? So let's see, I could dig that totally trashed Wheat cent that I'm almost convinced is a 1914-D out of my junk box and send it in, and he can not only restore all the lost details from the coin, but tone it to a pretty orange color too? What do I have to lose? Hoo boy... Rachel [:p]

Worse, as far as I know, it's all legal as long as he doesn't attempt to alter a coin to a different date or mint mark. It's just immoral.
I wonder if he can fill in the holes in some of these Chinese coins I have...

How does he get away with it....surely no serious collector would use his services. If you could "murder" a coin then this guy is a murderer for hire!!!
