I have several Capped Bust half dollars including this 1833, and I've got questions. First, how would you grade this coin? Second, what's up with the "5" in "50 C"? And third, because of the size difference from later half dollars is there a 2x2 for them or do you use a dollar 2x2? Thanks.

I'll say EF-40, possibly 45.

Is the "5" a PMD or an error?

Neither PMD nor an error. The 5 is as it was on the die, at least on this reverse die. There were other reverse dies used that did have a complete 5.

I have this one at AU50/53 Overton 102

AU-50. This coin has no major flat spots from wear, nor any distractive contact marks. But the obverse is too rubbed out for a 53. A very eye appealing and original specimen, and one I would gladly buy for my own collection at the right price.

I use dollar sized 2x2's to contain my bust halves.

I concur with Ty2020b that this is an O-102 with a rarity of R-1,
Suffering from bust half fever.

My 1827 CBHD was purchased in a dollar sized 2x2. It is in my 7070 now and was a tight fit.

The 5 was most likely the result of a damaged punch used to make the 5 in the die.

Yes the letters were individually punched into the die and in the case of the OP coin the 5 punch had part of the flag of the 5 broken off.
