Hello, What have people been seeing with regard to how many Morgan and Peace dollars have been coming back graded as MS 69 vs MS 70? I'm curious as to whether or not I should bother sending in some of mine that I have. Thanks!

. Send in only if you are sure, it will grade MS70, and have great eye appeal. There are many posts here that show a slabbed coin in 70 that has "problems". John1

No shortage of 70s!
I'd like to learn more about the issue(s) on the 2021-D Morgan that caused it to grade MS-61 - so low!

I have a 2021-O that graded MS-66 due to a large milk spot on Liberty's hat. Everything else came back 69 or 70. There have been some reported QC issues with this series. If you see milk spots don't bother sending it in.

I just got the grades back on the ones I sent in today. 4 of the 5 I sent in came back 70 and the Denver version came back 69. Quote: No shortage of 70s! Depends how you look at it. While there's the NGC numbers that need to be added, only 10% coming back 70 isn't a lot. Quote: I'd like to learn more about the issue(s) on the 2021-D Morgan that caused it to grade MS-61 - so low! D also seems to be the one getting the worse grades. Lowest number of 70s.

You also have to keep in mind of sample bias, especially through bulk submissions where anything less than a 70 just won't be graded. This obviously increases the percentage of coins grading MS70.

Quote: Depends how you look at it. While there's the NGC numbers that need to be added, only 10% coming back 70 isn't a lot. We must be looking at different numbers... Per the PCGS Population Report linked above: - 2021-CC Morgan: 2.993 MS-69 / 14,403 MS-70 - 82.7% of all coins graded received a 70 grade - 2021-O Morgan: 4,296 MS-69 / 11,117 MS-70 - 62.9% of all coins graded received a 70 grade - 2021-D Morgan: 4,318 MS-69 / 8,269 MS-70 - 64.9% of all coins graded received a 70 grade - 2021-S Morgan: 2,046 MS-69 / 11,658 MS-70 - 85.0% of all coins graded received a 70 grade - 2021-(P) Morgan: 2,492 MS-69 / 10,729 MS-70 - 81.0% of all coins graded received a 70 grade - 2021-(P) Peace: 3,368 MS-69 / 11,525 MS-70 - 77.2% of all coins graded received a 70 grade Those 70 numbers look rather substantial to me, and were the basis of my comment.

This is good information. I would not have expected MS70 has the highest numbers.

I'm basing that out of the total 175,000 minted, less than 10% (14k/175k) are grading as 70. Of course not every coin is going to be sent for grading which can skew the number, but I'm not surprised more are grading higher out of the total submitted since large dealers usually tell the TPG not to grade if below a certain threshold and are probably doing their own cherry picking before sending out. They're not going to mail out the ones with obvious damage like we've seen on the main thread.

5 of 6 came back 70. The D was a 69.

- 2021-O Morgan: 4,296 MS-69 / 11,117 MS-70 - 62.9% of all coins graded received a 70 grade I see the New Orleans mint is still plagued with strike problems.
