Just picked up this scarce medal for 30 cents in with some other foreign coins
It seems to carry some good numismatic value especially when in decent condition.

Nice piece of history at a great acquisition price! Congrats!

The USS Maine and the Spanish-American War are fairly popular exonumia collecting areas, so there's definitely a market for medals such as yours.

I noticed a few "silly" prices for the medal on ebay. Of course, sellers can ask any price they'd like, but collectors with any knowledge of the piece (or those willing to do even a small amount of market research on it) will most likely pass on such overpriced offerings IMO.
