Hi,

A friend of mine has a birthday coming up and she wants a complete set of State Quarters (although I'm not doing the buying, just advising). She says she's seen adverts for them and I noticed the US Mint doesn't have full sets for sale, so are these places that advertise the only way to get them now?

Thanks!

Well, I helped one of our members here build a full set of Ds, and a lot of members helped me put together a set of Ps, so I guess if you have the time, you can ask around here.

Otherwise, there's always ebay. Don't go on HSN or any of those shopping networks or you will get chopped!

I've also seen a few on craigslist... $20-25 is a good going price for a full set.

Here's one near me... $20 is pretty good in my opinion!

I believe you can find a 100 coin set on ebay for about $60. I know my local coin shop is selling them in a 3 ring binder for 62.95

Buy what you want,
I got one of my sets from TV where the guy is selling the complete P & D set, 100 coins for $99.00.shipping $9.00.
I looked at other places, sets for $55 and $62 And $70. but not one of them said anything about gloves or untouched or in a album.
Supposedly my set was put together from rolls using gloves in a nice dansco album.
The set is beautiful and I have no problems with it or the price.

When I posted the site that I did they were selling the uncirculated set in folder for 19.95. That's why I bought one. Should have bought more.

I agree with Cuzzx. Tho I agree that informerical that is selling the complete set for $99 bucks is one of the toughtest things to listen to for 1/2 an hour, who cares.
If you have no quams buying something heavily overpriced just for the sake of having something you really want, then BIG FRIGGIN DEAL. Its not like he's buying some lame coin not produced by the mint themselves, that have 2 twin towers that proudly flip up, thats made from recovered silver from ground zero, that's 'for collectors only' YUCK.
I'm amazed those 2 guys can actually talk at length for 1/2 hr on this State Quarter subject, and I especially get a charge when they repeatidly say 'this is no longer being produced, very low mintage (its still in the high millions however), and crap like that.
I've got them all, some I obtained while travelling in the U.S and some I bought UNC from a coin dealer here in Canada. I'm positive I spent more than $25 bucks for all 100 of them, another 4 bucks for the cost of the 2 x 2 's, meanwhile 1/3 of them have been circulated.
I just dont think its that bad of a way to obtain them.

Getting all 50 states in "Proof" is nice too.......I have em' !
I also have em' in "Uncirculated" and "Ciculated"......cept' my "Circulated" Set is still missing 4 P's from '08 and a couple from '07.
And I have an Uncirc. D roll of each state (missing 6 or 7 states is all)
And I'm not worried about what it's worth or what it cost to put together...........there's definitely "outlets" out there by the hundreds to accommodate peoples interests in the State Qtr. Fever !

The funnest ones are the ones you put together yourself...... but of course the Proof and Silver Proofs will cost more.....

But attaining one Set for a Birthday present could be 4 different levels.....Silver Proof, Proof, Uncirculated, and Circulated. Which means 4 different cost levels too.
Who's doing the buying and how much do they want to spend ?
The places you've been advised to seek them out are already mentioned, but as I said, there are 4 choices to this complete 50 State Qtr. Set to pick from then....
