Very thin, light red toning. Looks like something (paper?) was laid across the obverse - straight line.

Thanks GP!

Sure looks nice to me, I am interested in what the OP thinks it would grade. Is there another 1972 to post later? The final take on this coin will determine how I proceed

Well, I have it hand so it's cheating. LOL As you can see, I have already committed this coin to an Airtite holder.

In hand this coin has blazing cartwheel luster, with tight well-defined spokes with no interruptions. The contact marks are very tiny and you don't really see them in hand. There are some very tiny and light spots here and there but they are pretty mild in hand. The luster and eye appeal of this coin easily overcome the tiny flaws. I'm taking off 3 points for the spots, a little weakness in STATES and tiny tick on the memorial column.

67RD

the reverse is super, but the quantity of hits on Abe's cheek and shoulder make me think 66, btw I have numerous MS cents from this period with the same stripe of discoloration as this one has across its obverse

BadThad I have his older twin brothers with a couple less of those tiny contact marks . The purples in the coin did not show in your picture as much as in hand? Am I correct? I am submitting to PCGS this week and will send both of those coins, along with several others. Am I doing right by sending both of them? Or either of them for that matter? Do you feel yours would grade high?

I don't see any purple, just a light red toning. If you have one better than this, it should be a lock for 67 IMO.

BadThad I hope you check out this thread again and tell me what you think of this 1972 from same roll. Hopefully it can make the grade. Your coin and these two have the same mark under the chin so I am saying not a scratch and a few ticks on chin . Looks to be part of beard. I have those same ticks on several 1972 coins?

Here is the 2nd 1972 from that roll. Please let me know what you think. I sure like the one you posted. I thought these two were ever so slightly better and wanted to submit. sure curious if you think I made the right choice?
