I took a photo of 1983 penny and then I took a photo of the 1978.. I know you guys probably seen this type of stuff before but I figured instead of somebody saying my skills off I throw it out there right off the bat

The 83 is zinc and the 78 is copper. Coppers weigh 3.1g and zinc cents weigh 2.5g. Both are within tolerances.

And if you suspect that you found a copper 83 I think I can see zinc bubbles on it.

No I figured it was zinc I just wondered how come the weight was so far off it isn't in between the allotted. I mean whenever they give us give or take on the copper it only takes it down to 2.9 or 3.23 I believe
That's giving us 2.4 difference

Our mint does not follow the tolerances to well and modern coins slightly over and slightly under are not very rare.
