I am planning on collecting the new lincoln cents on feb 12, and I am wondering what is the best album to keep them in. Dansco, Harris, Whitman, Littleton Coin. What albums do you experienced collectors trust to keep your coins safe. And last how would you recomend storing your albums. Book shelf, safe, etc..

Thanks so much,

Richard

With questions like that I always tell people that you are asking the same thing as if you asked questions like these:
Who should I marry, what car should I buy, where should I move and why, what color sox should I wear and a long, long list of other questions based on opinion only.
If you want suggestions it too depends on availability, past experiences, prices and too, many other situations.
Me, I'm a Whitman Album person. The reason is Whitman is basically a Midwest area company and they are everywhere here. Many collectors use Dansco due to that being on the West Coast area and are more prevelant there. Littleton is sort of popular in the East. Intercept Shield products are on the pricy side.
I've presently got well over 100 Whitman Classic Albums and I like the ability to purchase blank covers, blank pages, additional slides, Gold looking press on letters/numbers. Also, their binders are much larger in width so many additional pages can be added. For example I have from 09 to present Lincolns in one album with plenty of room for many years to come. I can put together an album of Liberty Head/Buffalo and some Jefferson nickels all in one album.
Dansco is reportably noted as a much better quality type album, has that Brownish expensive look but if not intended to be put out on display, so what. Dansco is taller and deeper in size than Whitman.
Harris and Littleton are just not popular for many reasons.
Just way to many different people with their own likes and dislikes.

just carl,

I want to buy the Whitman album for Lincoln cents. I prefer Whitman because a) I'm in Chicago and as you say Whitman is readily available here, and b) as superficial as this sounds, I prefer the color blue 100x more than the color brown (Dansco albums). My question is does the #9112 (1909 - 1995) have spaces for proofs. I am not interested in collecting proofs and don't want to feel "obligated" to collect them just so I won't have empty spaces in my album. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I went to a coin store here in Toronto and bought this for my coins. They only had this brand available and I am hoping these are okay. Are there differences with the plastic used amongst the different brands available?

Another great thing about the Chicago area is all the coin stores and coin shows. Most have Whitman products but lately some shows are full of Dansco too.
And yes those stupid Albums have slots for Proofs. One nice thing about Whitman Classic Albums is the size for expansions. I presently have as many as 10 pages in my Lincoln Cent Albums. Another thing is you can purchase many blank pages for cents and make your own Album without Proofs and errors. I've done that too. No dumb 22, 55 Double, 72 Double. And if you want you can leave out some of the 60's, 82's, 70S's, etc. Whitman USED to sell sheets of Gold press on letters/numbers so you can title your own system. No proofs, all proofs, whatever you want.
Go to Google and type in Coin stores Chicago. I really hate to mention the worst one but they do have a great selection of Whitman Products. Harlan J. Berk downtown on clark Street. Really high prices but they do have a great selection and will order what ever you want.
And don't forget. Coin shows in Lemont, Countryside, Itasca. 1st, 2nd, 3rd Sundays of every Month, all year long.
One dealer at the Itasca shows gives me those albums free. SSHHHHH.
