Been a while since I last posted, so I decided to present an interesting coin I think will attract the attention of Spanish Real collectors. I was looking at older posts about double struck 8 Reales and how they're usually forgeries or counterfeits, but genuine examples do exist. My thought process when purchasing this coin was that it's either genuine or a contemporary example, either of which I would be okay with. It does not strike me as a numismatic forgery.
The coin weighs 26.85 grams and average diameter is 39mm. In all honesty I've yet to identify the double overlap. The edge photo is the area where it's in best condition. The rest of the edge is pretty worn. From looking at the edge, the circles don't look too square shaped to me and spacing between shapes seems fine. Another point of interest are the striations in the metal above the "vltra" pillar. I understand that being a variety type coin does not make it super rare and valuable as stated by swamperbob in another post, I just think it's cool .
