Combining two cultures

The Baby Kangaroo

"My baby is a bright one,"
said the mother kangaroo.
"With money in my pocket,
he knows just what to do."

He counts the nickels all by fives.
The dimes he counts by ten.
And if they drop, he quickly
picks them up and counts again.

Each time I give my son a coin
he always hollers, "Thanks!"
And when he's got a lot of them,
He puts them in his bank!

to replace the pounds and the shillings and the pence.
Be prepared folks when the coins begin to mix
on the 14th of February 1966.

Clink go the cents folks
clink, clink, clink. Changeover day is closer than you think.
Learn the value of the coins and the way that they appear
and things will be much smoother when the decimal point is here.

Here I am from this relentless sojourn
They see me coming and can't quite discern
I walk to the counter, my money in hand
The teller looks perplexed as if she can't stand
"Do you have any Halves?" I politely ask.
The teller seems distraught over this simple task

Quietly I wait to see the outcome
Hoping that she might just have some
She gives a quick nod to much my dismay
I knew this wasn't going to be a very good day
"I have some halves!" cried a voice from beyond
And low and behold there stood a cute blond

"I'll take them all if you don't mind"
I must have been nervous as my teeth started to grind
"$8.50" she said with a glorious smile on her face
Oh my Lord this is such a wondrous place
I searched them all not once but twice
This was a beautiful lot, so pretty, so nice

I see Kennedys, Franklins, and even a Walker
I hope this cute girl doesn't think I'm a stalker
I returned the next day in a distraught dazed slumber
And managed to ask the cute girl for her phone number
I took her to dinner with the profit I made
Knowing full well it was only face value that I paid

I search through canadian change
but I never find anything strange
All the schooners look sailed out of range
and the beaver an caribu have mange.

The luck that I have is just rank
I think someone is searching my bank
so my whitman is just one big blank
for a good find the lord I will thank

So how will I fill up my folders
there full of just empty coin holders
I know! i'll just buy from this site!
because this is my 50th write

Suddenly a coin
Brightness glints into my eye
Wallet empties out
