Have looked for this one at LCS and 2 recent shows all were too high a grade for my set,they wanted too much or cleaned dinged etc. Was in my LCS today and he handed me this one its just right - 30 bucks. Love the rim toning looks like a VG to me?

I'm closer to choice G-06.

VG8. I like the surfaces that don't appear to have been abused in circulation. Just nice even wear.

Could go either way, G-6 or VG-8. Full rims make it VG-8 but hard to see how many letters of liberty are visible making it possibly G-6

The surfaces are not original to the coin IMO

Yeah ,I'm at G-06+ . Maybe an old cleaning ,market acceptable .

Cleaned? I don't see it but could be wrong? its in Colorado and in may will be back home. I feel confidant it comes back straight graded as G or VG cleaning never entered my mind when looping over it. I love these things every coin is a $20 to couple hundred $ decision. Distractions everywhere like VF 94P 98P and that devilshly handsome 1896P tough to settle on G or VG when their 100 bucks heck for 1-2 hundred more get 5 x a coin. I'm rambling, Love them low pop P mint 1890's I'm out of money temporarily but not out of desire for more scarce Barbers. Thanks all will post ANACS grade in May.

In my experience with Barbers the uniform flat grey color with the darker toning around the edges is indicative of a prior cleaning. That's why I stated that I do not feel the surfaces are original.
