But that 1955 DDO is tempting for a poor person

Most, if not all of the 55 DDO cents came out of cigarette packs from cigarette machines. Cigarettes at the time were 23 cents a pack so they were sold for a quarter and came out of the machines with Two Cents inside the cellophane wrapped around the pack.

(I suspect many of the people on here have never even seen a cigarette machine. I mean one specifically designed for selling cigarettes.)

I last saw one at the Greektown Casino in Detroit about 10 or so years ago. At that time they were $9/pack out of the machine.

Well I opened it and the coins inside were starting to turn green lol.

Green as in toning or green as in verdigris? BIG DIFFERENCE. Green toning is RARE on copper cents and can add value.
