I recently purchased this bank bag of Canadian cents that was advertised to be 1964. It has the lead seal, preventing me from verifying the contents. I would rather sell it intact than to open the seal and ruin the "cool" factor.

Is there any way to tell on the outside of the bag that these cents are from 1964?

Thanks in advance!

The bag says Return to RCM. As far as I know if they are being returned,
it is because they are damaged or part of the ARP.
I can't see why a bank would sort out only 1964 cents to return.
Perhaps SPP- Ottawa will see this and weigh in, he has experience in mint bags.

All the RCM bags I have seen say please return, I always assumed it was referring to the bag. The ones I have have the denomination printed on them and the 1 cent says winnipeg.

I buy a lot of mint bags, in my search for errors coins. Some bags from 1963, and all bags from 1964 and 1965 did not have the dates printed on the bag, or the tag. Sometimes those bags have three sealed bags inside them, $20 face for each inner bag.

There is no way to tell, until you open the bag.

If the bag has been moved around enough times, there'll be no high grade gems in it - you'd be lucky to find a MS-64.

Pretty sure the breakdown for the tag #8564 3
Is 8 (Eighth day ) 5 (May ) 64 (1964 ) 3 ( Contents 3X20 Dollar bags)
As SPP stated you can crack one of these and it is either 1x60 or
3x20 bags .
Handled numerous cent bags over the years.
To answer OP question , yes the pictures are of an Original
RCM mint bag of 1964 Cents

Thank you all for the responses. I was thinking the numbers were some kind of code for the date, and this confirmed that theory. I won't break the seal, and wil sell it as-is and let the buyer have the pleasure of opening the bag.

I like to grab bank bags whenever I can, and I really like this one! I currently only have U.S. bags.
