As to the grade, most likely an XF-45 for me. A good long soak in some 100% acetone should help remove the residue with a wooden toothpick to shove that stuff off. Report this Post to the Staff

I'm not totally sure what the gunk is, but it seems like it will come off fairly easily. Not a coin I would buy because of the gunk, but this one was given to me by a friend. Not sure on the scratches. They are only on the field of the coin and don't pass through the design, so I thought maybe some sort of die issue. but they sure look like scratches now.
