This is an easily fixable problem and it's actually part of the mail control setup. Sometimes people inadvertently block more domains than they thought.

A couple friends of mine have accidentally done this. I keep the link handy

Also.. if it's a "kids only" account or other parent-controlled screen name, there is a setting in parental controls to only allow email from certain people and/or people on the buddy list, so that's also a place to check.
