Super excited on picking this one up from Finn Numistics @Finn235, I took sooo long to pay for this coin it arrived "toned" and I'd grown a 3 foot beard! Thanks for your amazing patience Steve really appreciated . This is Steve's photo, he's one of the most knowledgeable guys on this forum when it comes to Roman coins but luckily his photography sucks like mine, as what a surprise when the coin arrived! In hand it has super detail and a lovely golden toning, my top Denarius now
A really difficult emperor (claiment) to score especially on a tight budget!
Pescennius Niger's claim to the throne lasted a mere 12 months hence the scarcity and cost of his coins.
Pescennius Niger. AD 193-194. AR Denarius. Antioch mint.
Obverse..IMP CAES C PESC NIGER IVST AVG, Laureate head right.
Reverse...FORTVNAE REDVCI, Fortuna standing left, holding rudder and cornucopiae. RIC IV 26d.

So glad it arrived safe and sound, Paul!

You forgot to mention that right as I posted this uber-rarity, you mentioned a general strike among the workers at the Spanish post office - talk about sweating bullets!

Paul, that one is on my list. So glad you snagged it and from one of our very own. It's a great pick up and still has excellent detail and eye appeal - well done!

Steve, has saved me once or twice from buying duds and his expertise is always appreciated. I have few "Post-Finn" coins in my collection as well/

...Yep me too Steve!...Especially as I'd just sent a package over to your neck of the woods which had been returned to my home address by a "shrugging postal lady"!....Luckily the strike didn't last too long!

Congratulations, Paul. Another super addition to the collection. It will indeed look lovely with the golden toning. As they say, everything comes to those who wait, and it looks like you had waited long enough.

Thanks Jim ...
I never thought I'd own a P.N.denarius as his coins are normally way out of my reach!..I've just purchased a new camera so when I actually get around to re-photographing my collection I'll post a pic..
