Strange Marking On A 1966 Roosevelt Dime.

hewart Valued Member United States 157 Posts	Posted 04/28/2022 07:30 am Ok, found another odd dime in my collection. This is a 66 P dime and it has a tiny mark near the date. Thought it was just normal damage at first until I took a closer look. The metal around this mark appears to have been moved like what would come from an element. It could be a damaged die or possible die chip. From what I can see, it appears to be raised. What do you think ? Report this Post to the Staff

hewart Valued Member United States 157 Posts	Posted 04/28/2022 11:46 am This appears to me to be a raised area. I think this is a damaged die with most likely a broken chip missing from the die. That would allow metal to flow up into the cavity and could explain the irregular shape around the center of this point. However, I an new to this and it's just my observation.
