I snagged this one three years ago for a quite low 40 dollars... I have a personal grade already for this, just seeing if you all agree plus or minus a little.
Caveat: Please let me know if there is any fakeness about this, just saw several threads here on CCF on fake/counterfeit 1804s and I am completely not sure on distinguishing fakes from real ones since I am not very familiar with early American copper coinage.
It looks genuine to me at least. (I know about the rim ding at upper reverse).
What we really need is a true sense of the coloring on this coin so the originality of the surfaces can been seen. This coin does not look like copper, no sense at all if it's been cleaned.
Looks like it was cleaned. I would give a grade of VF35 - close to 40. Variety C-13. Not a particularly scarce variety so I would doubt anyone would counterfeit it.
