Hi all,

Hope people are well on this Spring day (at least in the Northern Hemisphere). I spotted this York half dollar on good old ebay today:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/234537189725

I remember from the EXCELLENT "Days of Classic Commemoratives" thread from a few years ago that this issue is extremely difficult to find in any sort of circulated state. The one in this listing certainly appears to have some circulation wear, particularly on the shield. To my untrained eye and despite the less-than-precise pictures, it looks like it might be a real coin.

I'm not a player for this one at that price with the bad pictures and no return policy, but I thought I'd post it here in case anyone pursuing a circulated/lowball commemorative set would like to take a stab at it. Or if it is a fake and I've missed an obvious sign of this, please let me know so I can edit the post title (or so a mod can do so if I don't see it in time.)

Best,

TSS

Oof... that price, with no returns and those pictures? Not my cup of tea.

Those are indeed tremble photos and even if I were interested I would not bid on this coin with no return privilege.

That said - it certainly appears to be a circulated York and, as Silver Searcher correctly remembers, is a very difficult coin to acquire in that state.

In fact, it is one of the six coins I designated as a 'Stopper' during the 'Days of' thread to completing a circulated type set of classic silver commemoratives.

Thanks TSS for pointing it out to us.

edit for spllneging
