Even though I have the krause catalog, I can't figure out where this coin is from for the life of me. I have about three coins like this that bear the "man with glasses" image on it, This one has the clearest image.

It's a Thai 1 baht. I can't read the year. perhaps someone else can help you with that. But, it's the current circulation one. The two older ones I have are huge

Yep, Thailand. The date is on the reverse, in the second line of Thai script, the last four "letters". In this case, it's Buddhist Era 2543, or 2000 AD.

The Thai king appears on all modern Thai coins, and he's always shown wearing glasses. He's been on the throne since 1946, so he's actually quite a bit older than this portrait indicates.

On my banknotes list you can see him there. He's had I think 3 series of notes and 5 different portraits, and on every one he wears the same style of glasses.

I kmnew that coin lookled familiar! I spent a week there, many years ago, when we were invited to visit Bankok, on a good-will visit. six of iour planes went over, and my plane, ( the skippers plane), spemnt a week as "guests of the king. We were shown things that are normally forbidden, such as a view og the Palace, from 500'! Normally it is forbidden to fly over the palace, and 2500 feet over the city. The Comandanyt of the Thai Nave is a good pilot, and had never flown a seaplane, so the skipper invited him to fly one. We got the "cook's guided tour"! we couldn't spend our money, and so I didn't get any couns toi bring back. They wopuld have been "worth while', being silver, but now, aluminum, yuck!

They probably wouldn't have been silver unless your visit was a very long time ago, LD. Thailand hasn't issued silver circulating coins since 1942.
