Your title says unknown date but the date is clear as day as a 2014, as for what you are seeing on the coin is environmental damage/corrosion, not an error. We see coins like this fairly often, I recommend trying the search bar at the top for info on errors, there is tons of great info on the site.

Not an error. There is no way that could happen during the striking of the coin.
It has been caused by corrosion, possibly been buried for awhile.
Also the date is clearly marked on the coin, 2014.
