Heritage Auctions - The continued growth of the world and ancient coin market has inspired the expansion of Heritage Auctions' multi-consignor, thematic Showcase auctions. These auctions concentrate on specific areas of interest within the numismatic community, presenting a curated selection of coins for collectors to enjoy. Next up is our July 2 Spotlight on Coins of the British Empire, a selection of over 400 coins with particular focus in British India and Africa.

Showcase-Auction-Of-British-Empire-Coinage-July-2

An example of the outstanding offerings from British India in this auction is lot 21220, a gold Mohur dated 1841, struck at the Madras mint and graded MS62 by NGC. This is a rarer Mohur type, the first of its type we have brought to auction, peppered by handling marks but maintaining an appealing state of preservation. It is one of the higher graded examples out of the mere eleven specimens certified at NGC.

A few of the other highlights noted here are:

British West Indies: British Colony. George IV Proof "Anchor Money" 1/2 Dollar 1822/1 PR65 PCGS, KM4
Gold Coast: British Outpost. George III bronzed-copper Proof Pattern Ackey 1796 PR64 Brown NGC, Soho mint, KM-Pn7
Hong Kong: British Colony. Victoria 50 Cents 1891 MS61 NGC, KM9.1
British India. Madras Presidency gold 5 Rupees (1/3 Mohur) ND (1820) MS60 NGC, Madras mint, KM422
British India. Private gold Tola ND MS62 PCGS, Bombay mint, KM-X21
Mauritius: British Colony copper Piefort 25 Sous ND (1822) MS65 Red and Brown NGC
Mombasa: British Colony 1/4 Rupee 1890-H MS68 PCGS, Heaton mint, KM3

This auction is open for bidding right now at Coins.HA.com, with the final live session scheduled for 7PM CT on Sunday, July 2. Make sure you place your bids now!

Very interesting to think about how much the British influence on coin design accrued due to their Empire expansion day`s.
Thanks for another great Press Release.
