I realise the San Francisco mint doesn't produce circulating coinage any more but Proof sets get stolen, or kids raid an unguarded collection and the coins are just spent. Have you ever come across a S mint mark "proof" circulated coin in your change?

I've found a few Proofs in circulation. One dime, a couple of State Quarters (Georgia and Ohio I think), and a couple halves. The halves are really strange, we don't see that many of them to begin with, and to find a Proof half is doubly strange. [:0] Of course, I see a lot more coins on a daily basis than most people get to...

I got a few proof half dollars in circulation about a year ago. They had obviously been circulating for a while; they were rather beat up. I returned them to circulation so that someone else could find them.

Other than that, the regular circulation of cents (1968-1974), nickels (1968-1970), and dollars (1979-1980 [1981 was only issued in mint sets]) turn up regularly.
