Did The US Mint Change Their Shipping Policy?

Back in early January, I ordered the Double Prosperity set for my son. Since he was born in 2008, I figured that the set was an appropriate gift for his birth year.

I have ordered gold from the US Mint plenty of times in the past. Every time I placed an order over a certain amount, the Mint would upgrade the shipping to Expedited FedEx. As a matter of fact, I ordered the 1/4 oz Proof Buffalo back in November and the Mint automatically upgraded my shipping and I received it the next day.

I placed the order for the Double Prosperity set in early January and finally got a notice that it was shipped yesterday. I checked the tracking and was surprised that it was sent Parcel Post via USPS. I assumed since the coin cost $1,078, the shipping would be automatically upgraded, as it was in the past.

Did the Mint change their policy when it comes to shipping
Or does the new facility have different rules in their shipping department?

Has anyone had a similar experience?

I don't know if the Mint has changed their "policy" or not. I guess that would be easy enough to find out by searching their website.

I think it's just because they recently moved to their new facility, and the new employees are ignorant.

I have called them since they moved and EVERY SINGLE PERSON I have talked to had no clue about the item, about shipping, about billing, anything.

I always found it was less stressful, not to call the Mint.

It must have been an ignorant employee who processed the order. I found this in the Mint's web site.

Orders with Merchandise valued at $300 or more with a standard delivery option chosen will receive a complimentary upgrade to Expedited Shipping. Gift Wrap and Shipping and Handling charges are not considered part of the Merchandise total.

I wonder how long it will take before they get things right?

I have placed at least four or five orders this year over $300 and not one of them has been shipped Expedited FedEx. I don't know what's wrong. When I ordered a bunch of HI quarters back in November I got the free upgrade, but none of my orders this year have gotten upgraded. It's not just one employee, it's all of them. The mint's shipping procedures have become

I'll call them today to hear what they say about shipping upgrades.

I'll update this later.

Actually, I just want to beat my head on a wall again!!
