So I just got a notification from the Mint and my rep that there is a new release available. Too early to be August so I am thinking late July... Apologies if this is old news... I have been a bit preoccupied of late.
Headline was Affordable Gold Coin - National Pride... Imagine my disappointment with Yet Another Maple Leaf (YAML)
This one is 1/20th oz 99.99% but it has 3 leaves representing the three oceans that border Canada... Symbolism aside, it is just another maple leaf.
FV - $10, Cost $279.95. I can buy bullion 1/10 oz at $265 so an over 100% markup for a reverse proof finish. at 14mm it is smaller than a dime so affordable must mean the size of hole in your wallet is smaller than most gold... then again, the coin is smaller than most gold.
For Reference... this appears to be the same size as the Gold Louis series released 2006-2009. All of which you can purchase today for bullion value.
I have said before that the
RCM is capable of some outstanding design work; unfortunately this is not an example, it is just a retread.
