My buddy gave me this note to see if it might be worth anything. It's not in the greatest shape as you can see. I was thinking about giving him a couple of bucks for it to stick with the other notes I have, but I don't want to scam the dude.

Not sure...I have a couple bills with interesting serial numbers I've saved and have wondered as well what they might be worth. One is a $1 with 11111123 and the other is a $5 with 00000107.

Probably the best bet with bills like this is to try to save them for the next time someone wants to play liars poker. :)

The $5 should be something because it's a low serial

I would suggest talking to Chinese about it, because 8 is a lucky number in China, even to the point where phone numbers with a lot of 8s are sometimes sold.

yup, when I was in China, some dealer offered me 200 RMB for this thing:

$1-With-6-8's

But I said no because the 2 is the same pronunciation as son, so this note means you're going to be rich and so will your son!

And as another note, the selling of numbers doesn't only have to be 8s, but could also be like 16336 and also goes for license plates

Thanks for the info. I figure a couple of bucks is ok then. But I will let him know about the Chinese and the eights. The bill is 1988 by the way. Who knows might be a little premium on it for him.

Nice note wd1040. How much is 200 RMB? Chinese money I'm guessing.
