I like Commem's suggestions. Maybe someone from congress and/or the mint is reading this.

If Congress doesn't act on any proposals soon, there won't be time for ANY commemorative coins for 2023. It would seem like next year will be the year of the Morgans - but not much else.

Quote: If Congress doesn't act on any proposals soon, there won't be time for ANY commemorative coins for 2023. Yep, it does appear 2023 is currently a "hole" in the modern commemorative coin program. I'd still like to see one or more 2023 coins commemorate US history, but could support the Granite Mountain Hotshots bill if it were amended to call for a single design (vs. 20) and was representative of the unit vs. the individual firefighters. I would also prefer that the bill be amended to feature distinct designs on each of the three denominations proposed - I'm not a fan of the one-design-across-all-coins model. Based on approvals last week in the Senate, the two slots for 2024 appear ready to be reserved with three-coin (gold, silver and CuNi) commemorative coin programs for: 1. Harriet Tubman Bicentennial Commemorative Coin Act 2. Greatest Generation Commemorative Coin Act Both bills had previously been passed by the House, so they now only await Biden's signature for enactment.

Quote: ...how about marking the 250th anniversary of the 1773 Boston Tea Party? Maybe a coin for the anniversary of the Committees of Correspondence? Both were key events leading to the drive for US independence. I like those ideas.

Wait, isn't there some provision that living people can't be on coins? One of these guys survived, and is still alive.

Quote: Wait, isn't there some provision that living people can't be on coins? In general, "No." Recent coin programs such as the State Quarters Program and the Presidential $1 Coin Program have included language prohibiting living persons from appearing, but there is no general law against it. As commems said Quote: Yep, it does appear 2023 is currently a "hole" in the modern commemorative coin program. I can't see any commemorative coin bill being a priority for a lame duck congress, so this is looking more certain. and Quote: Based on approvals last week in the Senate, the two slots for 2024 appear ready to be reserved with three-coin (gold, silver and CuNi) commemorative coin programs for:
1. Harriet Tubman Bicentennial Commemorative Coin Act 2. Greatest Generation Commemorative Coin Act both have been signed (PL 117-162 and 117-163) so 2024 is set.

And BadDog, I am completely fine with getting a break in '23. The lineup for '24 does look good. Probably will be some nice designs for both of those sets. But in the meantime, I can go for a year of anticipation. My wallet will be happy too!
