Uncirculated 1956 Threepence

They just look so nice Uncirculated! 1956 is the first year where getting Uncirculated is still fairly easy, You can get uncirculated 1955 coins and earlier above the copper - but its hard as these coins (Especially the 3d and coppers were heavily used).

Australia issued every coin in 1956 except the halfpenny which started a 3 year holiday. It was a big year for Australia as it hosted the 1956 Summer Olympics in Melbourne, the first time they had been held outside Europe or America and in the Southern Hemisphere.

Here is a shilling, threepence and penny

And a nice Florin of course

This one is not quite on the level of the post 1958 ones, but still a decent near EF one. You will notice light wear on the Emu's back.

Like NZ, by 1956 the Uncirculated coins are beginning to get more expensive and scarce.

World coins later.

I won't be cruel, as long as you don't step on my blue suede shoes at the Heartbreak hotel.

Why do fools fall in love with coins, I guess love is strange!

The 1956 UK set includes the last farthing minted.

It's quite scarce with a mintage of 2 million, but as they only had a short time in circulation (they were demonetised on December 31, 1960) and plenty were saved at the time, there are still lots around in EF and UNC condition and they aren't very expensive:

Why are all the 1955 coins being posted? I thought we were at 1956 today?

Unfortunately I have nothing to post for 1956 or 1955. AFAICT my remaining 20th century entry options are 1953, 1952, 1949-44, 1942, 1939, 1935, 1923-21, 1920, 1907, 1905, 1901 (plus a coin from 1940 that's barely visible on the pic), though there might be one or two more that I took photos of for other reasons but didn't upload to CCF.

Perhaps we should a refresher post every decade showing the date and year of coins to be posted like

October 25 - 1956 (Today)
October 26 - 1955
October 27 - 1954
October 28 - 1953
October 29 - 1952
October 30 - 1951
October 31 - 1950

etc or the first poster of the new day has to say something like "Welcome to 1956" etc.

Last time was smooth except when the site went down whilst we were stuck in 1927 and we carried it on for 4 days.

I suspect Dorado may be auto posting and is not around to notice his mistakes or "Bomb posting" he is still posting 8 or 9 single coin posts in a row, when he has been asked to ease up and let others post. Also his posts are high resolution and slow my computer down (Its a 1937 Humidor steamputer that plays syncopated Jazz music)
