Nice coins from 1948 already!

1948 was a high mintage year for all British coins, apart from the threepence, and even that isn't rare (4.2 million), The cupro-nickel coins are extremely common, as large numbers were needed to replace the pre-1947 silver. These are the last UK coins to have 'Ind:Imp' for 'Emperor of India' among the King's titles. The sixpence shows the old reverse design with the 'GRI' cypher:

Of course King George VI was no longer Emperor of India, but I assume production of 1948-dated coins had started the previous year. Even India was no longer the same country it had been, as Pakistan had gained independence and issued its own coins, like this half-rupee:
