Are they still in their original cellophane wrapper, inside an envelope?
If so, I wouldn't use them for scrap regardless, the trends value of a complete set is 25 bucks a piece.
I love the 65 silver dollar, there are 5 or 6 different varities, and as far as the 66, there is a large and small bead variety in which the small bead is worth 2500 smackers. Standard price for the silver dollars alone is 15 to 20 bucks a peice providing they are MS or AU.
Sorry dont know enough about silver content to help calculate a melt value.
Seems a shame tho

Yes thay are all still in their original cellophane wrapper with the paper info sheets and envelopes. Can more than one bead variety come in proof-like sets?

Ive done some reading within the 2009 Charlton, and it appears and you have indirectly suggested, there are different bead varieties for the 1 cent, and 5 cent as well.
I can't comment if one cello-pack can contain the different bead varieties at each coin level, but I got a gut instinct, yes.
If I were you, Id really research what ya got there.
Great deal anyhow.

Silver PL sets contain a net amount of 1.1 ounces of silver, if you're calculating silver value. The rare 1966 small beads dollar can't be found in these sets, nor can the rare 1965 large beads/detached jewel 5 cent. The 1965 dollar varieties and the 1965 cent varieties can though. The main one to look out for with the 1 cent pieces is small or large beads, just as with the circulating coins. I don't think anyone can tell you exactly which combinations are possible for the cent. At least 2 of the four 1965 1 cent varieties can be found in the PL sets, but there is a good chance three types can be found, and a very small chance all four types exist. The rare type 4 (LB,PT5) does not to my knowledge exist in a PL strike, but the Charlton does list it, which makes me think one or more may be out there. Hopefully some of this helps.
