Quick question ... were the 1859-1864 Copper-Nic cents thicker than the later Bronze issues?

I just came across an 1862 cent that I think is bogus ... the reverse is 90 degrees off the obverse ... I'll run it by the coin shop this weekend ... it's also a little thicker. I'd post a picture but I'm without camera right now.

Yup. Thicker, heavier, 4.67 grams. I'm told die rotation is fairly common with these IHCs. I like them a lot.

M9frank,

Thanks for the welcome and thanks for the reply ... this is the first pre 1864 IH I've added ... and the rotation of the faces caught me by surprise, but the thickness of the coin when compared to later issues was first thing I notice ...

... so you made me feel better in regards to this being a good coin ...

Thanks Much
