Immediately you say 65 at best 66. I ask that you compare to what PCGS has posted for a 67. I have come to realize ,I am more of a technical grader. All my images are more than double a 10X loupe which exaggerates hits. You are seeing 20 times the size of the contact mark. The steps are slightly incomplete, but half the 60's PCGS pictures of 67's have incomplete steps! Still this one may not cut the mustard
Rest in Peace

I like the obverse , right up there in numbers . The reverse like you mentioned has exaggerated marks ( 3 that I see ) on the fields which is keeping away me from giving a 67 . How about 66+RD .

As always, it will come down the eye appeal, luster and fields.

glare could be hiding some small stuff but this is a nice one. the only noticeable mark is reverse below steps and very minor tics on the obv. I dont see any discernable issues with the field color but for the elusive 67 grade PCGS likes a cherry red color what the would think of the obv strike. what stands out is where the bowtie meets the lapel. I dont think it can pull a 67. the strike is just not strong enough imo

i found a couple 66's that were not as good as this one. the 67 I found has a better strike with a lot more detail in the hair. you know the odds of pulling a 67. your steps are nicer. there are not a whole lot to compare yours to out there. Great Collections has one but the photos are too small for comparison.

heres your PCGS numbers
738 - MS66
25 - MS66+
32 - MS67

here is the note on PCGS site about the coin:

The 1965-P Lincoln Cent is very common especially since over 1.49 billion examples were struck. Only in MS66 condition is it somewhat scarce. Yet still, thousands of MS66 examples should still be out there. Keep an eye out for high end MS66 examples since those are very scarce, especially since examples in MS67 condition are very difficult to find and truly scarce, despite having a very large mintage.

That is due to what I call "wispy red toning". PCGS really likes it when it's a bullseye pattern. On the obverse the most elusive pattern is every thing toned wispy red except for the portrait.

GP was generous enough to send me a few of these:
