Singapore coins are extremely common here in Australia, because many flights from Australia to pretty much anywhere in Asia or Europe travel via Singapore. And the merchants and food vendors in Singapore Airport happily take any foreign currency, but always give change in Singapore coins. So practically everyone in Australia who's been overseas has brought home a little pile of Singapore coins.

I've managed to put together a near-complete date set of Singapore coins, just from friends and family going overseas. And yes, that includes a 1989 dollar in near-MS condition.

Trivia: from 1985 up until 1991, Singapore coins (including the dollar) had this coat of arms design, with the scroll curved downwards; this design fit onto a round coin better than the official design of the coat of arms. But the "upside-down scroll" was considered unlucky by some, so the design on the coins was changed in 1992, putting the scroll "the right way up".
