I just joined up, and I was wondering if either of these coins are rare/valuable.
I have a french Napoleon III coin, from 1856 with a birdie on the back, I think these are fairly common, but I have no clue.

also, I have a whole bunch of little coins that say "island Aurar" have a shield looking thing with a cross on the back, and a number, which I assume is the value of the coin(25,10,5)from between 1930-1960 or something like that.

Thanks!

Welcome to CC.

Do you have a way to post pictures of your coins? It helps a lot in identification and determining value.

If your camera has a macro function, you should use it. It will help you focus better on the details. The camera should also be stationary (preferably on a tripod or stand).

The ones that say "island aurar" are from Iceland. (Island is "Iceland" in the local language.) "Aurar" is the denomination. It is the plural of "Eyrir". So you have coins of Iceland in denominations of 5, 10, and 25 Aurar. The Eyrir is the fractional denomination; there are 100 Aurar to 1 Krona (plural Kronur). Unless you are fortunate enough to have a rare date or a pattern, they are not particularly valuable.

We will need better pictures to precisely identify the coins, but my reference shows a good possibility for the French coin. The 1, 2, 5, and 10 Centimes bronze coins all have an eagle on the back; they are all common and are valuable only if they are uncirculated.

I hope this helps.

Heather

It looks like a 10 (dix) centimes by the size of it. The 1856's are not uncommon if heavily worn but it also depends on the mintmark letter below the eagle (A, B, BB, D, K, MA, or W).
