But I like the design and it inspires my interest to learn more about the issue type and go looking for better grades. Sap Moderator Australia 16816 Posts	Posted 10/20/2022 11:38 pm The reverse design depicts the original Australian coat of arms, which was granted in 1908. The exact same coat of arms design was used on all Australian silver coins from 1910 up to 1936, with only the denomination-name changing. In 1912, a new coat of arms (the current one) was designed and approved, but that new design never made it onto the sixpence. In 1937, to begin the reign of King George VI, all the silver coin reverses were redesigned - except for the sixpence, which retained this same "old coat of arms" design up until the denomination was withdrawn in 1966 and replaced with the 5 cent piece, which was the same size but not made of silver.
