This large cent appears to have broken stems at leaf #9 and leaf #11. At leaf #9 there appear to be faint traces of a stem near the leaf.

Any information about this coin would be appreciated!

Do you have Rob Turner's book, The Provincial Cents of Provincial Canada? Without the coin in hand, it's hard to know for sure. It looks like Obverse OA3, which was used on 5.33% of the 58's and RC3 Rev, which was on 2.67% of the 58's. It a keeper.

okiecoiner,
No, I do not have Turner's book, but will look for it.
Thank you for the valuable information!
I started off looking for a modest set of George V cents, and now my rather expansive Canadian cent collection has led to some serious inroads into fascinating history.

The ID's that I gave you are Turner numbers. If you want to find out and learn about Canadian numismatic history, you (and anyone viewing this thread) need to pick up a copy of Turner's book, volume 1. It is about much more than ID'ing the 1858 Obv's and Rev's, it covers the history and political mechanics behind Canada with it's own coinage. It is also a great in-depth look at the master engraving, the die making, and machinery that made it all happen with the 1858's, but it is a great book, exclusive of the 1858 ID's. It should be on everyone's library shelf and well-read.
