I gotcha - I know what a clash is, I was just confused because of the talk of a right-facing portrait and the next monarch.. I thought there were 2 different monarchs on the same coin.

Ah.. that was my fault because I was yet to learn about die clashes! :) - I wrote in the original title and at the top of the post that it seemed to be William IV - who does in fact face right.
