Quote: Congratulations to both of you! Thanks JBuck! We're really excited! I'll try to get an ultrasound photo up eventually. I have to say though, I think the "spousal tax" standard rate doubles during pregnancey mood swings....

This is the "facebook" I thought I was getting into! I am proud to be a part of it!
vermontensium, that would be a lot of fun! I don't know how to PM on here, so if you were to make my name an AOL nae, you could contact me easily. Then we could see what the future brings.
to you young folks who are about to have your first child, or the second one is "on the way", I salute you, and think how long I has been since I was in "your shoes". As you see from my pictures posted, I " ain't no spring chicken"!

bullnuke, wheezydog, and tights24, it was interesting, reading your posts, and comments. makes me think back when the ships were a lot different, than now. There were no Nuclear, (to my knowledge). I was kucky in that I never had to prove that iron will float! I did however bear witness that aluminum does, having spent my entire career in seaplanes. I cut my teeth on the old "yoke-boat", the PBY-5, and went thru several other models. I was trained, (schooled as a Aircraft machuiist mate), and because there was no hope of making "chief" in that field, converted to my hobby, and became an aviation electronics technician. Yes, I made chief, later. I have been on a couple carriers, (mostly as a passenger) the Boxer, The Valley forge, The USS Crockett, and the Boyd. We lost an engine on a "rigging run", and then the port engine lost power. The pilot made a smooth landing. what happened next is another story! Finally the Boyd came into sight, and we later were towed to a safe harbor. She towed us all night, (at about 6 knots), into Makoko harbor, (Bokoko), where we changed the starboard engine, on the water. while there, we saw them launch a Chinese vessel, and it went straight to the bottom! This was during the time that they were squabbling over Amoy, and Quemoy. Thank you young men for serving your, (OUR) country! I would still enjoy serving, but I don't think I could even qualify for serving on the "chow line, serving "joe"! Dick

Quote: I'm computer illiterate. Tried to put up a pic but cound'nt. Don't try to explain it to me cause I'll still be lost. WOLF You quit too easily. We won't let you off the hook. Posting pictures is the lifeblood of this forum. Here's how it's done ... wait, you said "don't try to explain". Step one: Pics must be 100kb or smaller to post here. If yours is larger, resize it with just about any photo tool. I recommend "Paint" as it is on all PC's. If you have a MAC someone else will need to chime in. Right-click on your picture from the file and determine "properties" from the menu. This will tell you what size the picture is. For this example let's say it's 180kb. Right click again and select "open With" and then "Paint". From the paint program click on the "image" option at the top of the screen. One of the options is "Stretch/Skew", click on it. Your first set of options is "stretch". In the "Horizontal" box replace the 100% with 50%, do the same with the "Vertical", then choose "OK". Your picture will now be 50% of 180kb or 90kb ... just the right size for posting. Last step is to save the change. I recommend adding a file extension to the original file name so that it doesn't overwrite the original. Something like X1 (make sure there are no special characters or spaces in the filename, letters and numbers only). Now select "Save". Step two: From the "Post New Reply" box on the CCF page, look below the box for a green camera icon "Add Image" and click on it. A box will appear. Click on "browse" and go to the location in your file where your picture is stored, then click on it. Then select "upload file" and voila your picture is loaded to the post. Choose the preview button to see it in the post prior to posting. If you receive an error note when you choose "upload", that means the file was too large and/or the filename contained special characters or spaces. C'mon, give it a try!

seatednut, I went thru your discourse, and got lost!. I am computer illiterate also, to a certain detgree. Maybe an alternative method might workL: Wolf, If not a member of Photobucket.com, you can join. It is free. Check your computer for "My documents\My pictures". One, or both will show you the pictures you have there. That done, go to Photobucket, and click on "upload videos, and pictures. That will bring you back to your unit, and if it doesn't have one, or the other, then click on one of the names I mentioned. the pictures will show, and when you see the one you want to post, clock on it and click "open". The "Bucket will upload it. Then when it has been uploaded, you can view it. While hovering over the image, a small box will appear below, and to the left. check this box, and then scroll down the page to where it says generate an image, stc. Click, and then scroll down to where it says images for message boards, erc. clicl this, and right click "copy". You now have it in the browser. Go to CCF and in this threadpost just like you did, when you said you couldn't post the picture. Then say what you want to say, then go down a line, and "paste". You will see a line of "stuff", that has img on each end.. Then hit preview, and there you are!. Yhen after you have seen enough of that "smiling face", close the preview window, and submit. You have uploaded your first of many images to come! I hiope this helps. It works for me. Dick

Dick, I offer this tutorial because I, like Wolf cannot see photos from share sites (photobucket, inkfrog, etc.) at work. I miss more than half of what's posted here. All I see is a little red x. and Wolf Quote: And when I hit the task button the browser box does not come up it just ends up sayin [image] in the text box I don't know what "task" button you are refering to? I'm commited to this now! P.S. there's a tutorial link at the top of the "post a reply box".

The button to post a pic. When I click it nothing happens other than the word [image] comes up in the box. Not the browser window which lets you pick your picture. I also see red X's on a lot of the posts. Which suxs cause I love lookin at the coins and errors etc. WOLF

You are clicking on (insert image) above the text box. I never use that.
You need to click on the green 'camera icon' below the test box in order to upload a picture.
