Would this coin be considered a ssn? I know pictures are not the greatest but this is the best the seller could give me. The n in Regina sure looks like it is but not sure about n in Canada it may have taking a hit of some type. Looking forward to comments and a big thank you in advance

If it's a '76, '81 or '82 it is normal single serif. If it's an '84, you have a winner.

Okie wouldn't the 84 have a longer serif n in Regina?
Plus you say that if it's a single serif n that would mean that it's a rare one for the 81 ssn

No, there are many many single serif 81's and 82's and, of course, ALL of the '76's. The mint used the 1876 master/matrices for all of the 81 & 82 Obverses rather than making a new master or matrix. That's why you see so many repunched letters in those 2 years ... the dies were tired. The '84 is the only scarce single serif.

Okie I know you know your Vicky large cents very well but I think you got your statement incorrect , yes all 76 have ssn some of the 82 also but the 81 ssn is rare. Looking at what I have posted I know the coin is a 1881 . My question was does it look like a ssn with picture supplied

Yes, I was in error with the '81 SSN statement. The 1881 single serif is scarce but not rare (rare meaning less than 20 known) as I used to have 2, but sold them when I stopped active collecting. I may be mistaken, but I think the the SSN in the 65th Charlton is my coin. You will see many '81's that started out as SSN (from the 1876 Obv dies) and then terrible repunched with all sorts of offsets both horizontally or vertically. In my mind, I actually mixed up the scarcity of the 1884 Obv 1 with the '81 single serif. My apologize.
