I've never been too good at grading coins like this, but I'd call it gVF, with maybe the edge knocks take it down to plain VF.
I've never noticed before; the "English half" of the coin calls it "20 piastres", but the "Arabic half" calls it "20 qirsh".
Don't say "infinitely" when you mean "very"; otherwise, you'll have no word left when you want to talk about something really infinite. - C. S. Lewis

Thanks Sap for the grading Quote: I've never noticed before; the "English half" of the coin calls it "20 piastres", but the "Arabic half" calls it "20 qirsh". We "The Egyptians" currently use the word Piastres or Piaster as a translate to Qirsh in arabic. Quote:The Egyptian pound or gineih[1] (Arabic: الجنيه المصرى, el-Gineih el-Mi#7779;r#299;) (sign: £ or ج.م; code: EGP) is the currency of Egypt. It is divided into 100 qirsh (قرش) (pronounced irsh[2], piastres in English), or 1000 malleem (Arabic: مليم) (milliemes). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Egyptian_pound

Is there anything I can use to remove this black dirt without affecting the coin value?

Nice coin Amr. I have a couple of coins in this series. Not the 20P though.
As far as grade I would say VF. They are not easy to grade as the design is quite flat anyway. However the edges and leaves are showing definite wear. It looks like there are a couple of quite prominent edge dings too.

Thanks Quick Silver. The coin looks better than the pic, but at least I have a base line (VF).
Thanks again

I see the consensus is VF--I thought so too, but I know nothing about this coin series. Quote: Is there anything I can use to remove this black dirt without affecting the coin value? It looks like silver tarnish to me, which is normal. Removing that would make the coin look cleaned. Personally, I like the appearance.
