Came across this 1970 D in a roll this morning. Checked all the resources, there is no 1970 D DDR listed. The reverse ER in AMERICA sure looks like doubled die. However, based on the damage on the obverse and edge I suspect this is PMD. An unintentional or intentional attempt to create a DDR.

Have you ever seen anything like this? What do you think?

That is not doubling you see on the E an R on the reverse. What this is, is plier marks that were used to squish this coin which can be seen on the obverse and rim.

This is a damaged coin.

Exactly what I thought. Never seen one in the wild. Thanks Dearborn.
